If you’ll be having guests over during the holiday season, one way to refresh your dining space is to do a little reupholstering. I know. If you haven’t done a project like this before, the word reupholster can sound a bit scary and time-consuming. But it won’t be and that simple change will go a long way in your home (and how you feel about it!) when the doorbell starts to ring in a few weeks. Check out these before and after shots of a pair of kitchen stools our girl Casey of The DIY Playbook revamped recently.

You can see more photos and details of Casey’s latest re-upholstery project here. And if you want to tackle a quick make-over of your own dining chairs or stools, here are some materials that’ll help:
Fabric – If you have young kids or simply want something that can take more than the usual wear and tear, consider using outdoor fabric, oilcloth or vinyl. Casey wisely went with an outdoor fabric: Waverly Parterre Sun N Shade Grass.
Paint – Our new selection of Rust-Oleum spray paint and primer can be found here.
Foam – If the “insides” of your chair seats are in good condition, by all means reuse! But if they’re not up to your standards, you can always replace the seats with some upholstery foam.
Cushioning – If you are replacing the seats themselves, you may want to cover your foam with something like this to create a soft smooth surface and rounded corners.
Good luck and please share your project photo with us on our Facebook Page!
