You know how when you’re sick all you want to do is just curl up in your own bed? Well. Starting the day we were to fly to Sweden for our family vacation, and continuing for about a week while there, every member of our family got sick with the stomach bug. We did not leave my mother inlaw’s house. BUT. Although it suuucked to be sick on vacation when we were supposed to be out and about visiting with friends and family, it was actually a really nice place to be sick. I mean it. Her home is just such a lovely place. And once we were all well enough to move on to other homes, a realization set in. I’ve got a little more work to do on the atmosphere in my own home. It’s getting there for sure, but it could definitely use more decor. And I just love the look and feel of some of these Swedish homes.

I guess the fact that so many Swedes have a good eye for design isn’t exactly news to me. I’ve been to Sweden many times. Have lived there. But this particular time was a good reminder that atmosphere in a home makes a huge difference in how you feel when you’re there. Despite very limited winter daylight and only one sunny day during our twelve days there, the decor helped escape any drearyness. And it’s much more than Ikea and minimalism, guys. It’s harmoniously traditional and modern. It’s details. It’s wallpaper, if you can believe it! Of course, those bath towel warmers don’t hurt in the dead of winter either. Everyone’s got them!
Where are you decor-wise in your home? Think the atmosphere could use some boosting? I came across this new company this morning and Ihad to share. It’s called Homepolish, a company that provides access to interior designer expertise at a range of budget levels. So that if you’re in a decor rut, you can get guidance in creating the atmosphere you want in your home. Surroundings that make you feel good. So check out the video and I will go take a jet-lag-friendly nap. And then hang some more stuff on my walls.
